Group Buyer Model

Group-buying model is one of the types of dynamic pricing models such as traditional auctions for internet marketplaces. The idea behind group-buying model is that since the willingness to pay for goods and services increases, the price for those goods and services decreases. So if there is a group of people who are willing to buy a product at the same, usually the sellers make reductions on prices. As Kauffman and Wang (2001) argues, group-buying mechanism is the “dynamic pricing mechanism that allows consumers to aggregate their purchasing power and to obtain lower prices than they otherwise would be able to get individually.” On the internet there have been several internet marketplaces which used this model. The main idea is that people who are willing to buy a specific product adds him self online to a list of a group of people who are also willing to buy the specific product. And the system automatically reduces the prices according to the number of buyers of that product.
